Okay I promise that this is the last big Gumbo illo for Thought Bubble. I swear! I have other things to finish!
This one came out a wee bit cool though!
WIP: Imaginary Gumbo Halloween illustration. I’m trying to fight my urge to clean my inks all the time, scribbly is good! I think the more I clean them up, the more life gets lost in the characters. I had a very neat version of Charlie here but it looked so bland that I went back to my initial scribbling layer and just took out some construction lines. So she’s got this wonky grin and scruffy hair that I really like.
Gumbo is pretty sure you’re not supposed to get this many sweets for trick-or-treating.
Turtle power! I haven’t a good chance to see the new show yet, but the designs are adorable. And apparently my nephew is going bonkers for it. It’s a good time to be a TMNT fan with the IDW comics out too.

I think it’s a crying shame that we don’t have a Wizard of Oz styled graphic novel of Harry Potter. All lavishly illustrated by Skottie Young. Just imagine it! Go look at his Tumblr, there’s more and it’s all gorgeous.

I am all over this. We’re still knocking things together ourselves with Imaginary Gumbo and The Demon Tomato, but it’s seeing people like Jamie Smart talking about kids comics like this that keep us inspired.
